You MUST have a current Ontario Security Guard Licence in order to apply for employment. We always accept resumes and will hire from our resume file before we advertise. All Security Guards in Ontario are required to be licensed by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
The first three steps you must complete to obtain a NEW security licence are:
The Basic Training course is 32 hours long and together with Emergency First Aid totals the 40 hours required by the Ministry of Correctional Services and Community Safety. If only completing the Basic Training without first aid (you have a valid certificate) the training time is 33.5 hours. The Basic Training course is completely online and has sections of video conferencing and it’s based on the Ministry curriculum. The Ministry has chosen Stinson Security as a ‘training entity’ based on the excellence of our course. It is flexible so that it can be completed in increments and sections can be reviewed and re-done. Quizzes at the end of each unit give an opportunity to study for the Ministry test. The time required to complete the online course is up to the individual.
The 8 hours of First Aid training is included in the cost of the course if you haven’t already completed a first aid course. There is a choice of taking Emergency level First Aid, which is the requirement of the Ministry or Standard level First Aid which is recommended as the optimum required by the industry. Stinson Security works with Absolutely Creative Training Solutions in London, Ontario to provide the best in course time/date choices and instructors.
**CHANGES AS PER OCTOBER 1ST, 2015 **

The cost for the online course without First Aid (you have a valid certificate) is $200.00
The cost for the online course with Emergency First Aid is $300.00
The cost for the online course with Standard First Aid/CPR is $350.00
Please note: The cost of writing the Ministry test ($75.15) and the cost of your security guard licence ($80.00) IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST OF BASIC TRAINING AND FIRST AID. Stinson Security Services Limited requires employees to be fluent in the English language, flexible to a variety of shifts, responsible for transporting themselves to and from the work site ( not all sites are on the bus route ). Experience is an asset although training is provided. Many clients request Security Guards who are students or graduates of Law & Security or Police Foundation college level programs. This education provides a good base for work in this industry.
