COVID-19 Pandemic

In light of the recent public health concerns with COVID-19, we would like you to know that the health and well-being of our staff, clients and visitors is what matters most. We have taken action consistent with Health Canada, as well as provincial and local authorities.

We would like to continue to support all of our staff during this time with business hours remaining the same. That being said we are asking that if the reason you need to visit our office IS NOT urgent then you stay at home. Should you require a new uniform item urgently, these can be sent to you at your site. Should you be fast approaching your licence renewal deadline, then please contact Darlene during business hours so that an appointment can be made for you to come in. We are limiting office to one SCREENED visitor at a time.

We are making every effort to conduct meetings by telephone and reduce the amount of contact for a time.

OUR OFFICE DOOR WILL BE LOCKED. If you arrive and cannot gain access, please feel free to contact us by telephone 519-673-1664.

If you have booked an appointment to come in to do your licence renewal, we have adopted the screening protocol from Health Canada. If you say YES to any of the following, please remain at home and contact: Telehealth Ontario (866)-797-0000 Middlesex-London Health Unit (519)-663-5317

· If you have a fever and/or a new cough and/or difficulty breathing
· If you have traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days
· If you have had close contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case
· If you have been in close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness who has been outside Canada in the last 14 days
Following these guidelines is essential for both your safety and the safety of our community.

If any of the criteria listed above apply to you, please remain at home and save your visit to our office until you have received the all clear from a medical Doctor.

This is a fluid situation and government and local health authority advisements are changing by the hour. At this time, our understanding is that if you need to self isolate due to exposure, travel or immunity issues then you MAY be covered by Employment Insurance and the one week waiting period MAY be waived ( dependant on the usual qualifications ).

We will discuss each persons concern with them individually as what is said today, changes tomorrow as the government organizes their support plans.

At least until April 6th, we will not be offering the service of security course registration or new licence applications.

Please continue to use the anti-virus kits sent out and all supplies being offered by clients to keep workplace sanitized as best you can.

Handwashing is one of the key methods of stopping the spread of the virus, and we strongly encourage you to wash your hands often, use sanitizing stations and use wipes and sprays in your work areas.

It is also strongly recommended that we all refrain from exchanging handshakes.

Social Distancing

Face to Face Meetings

The current protocol is to limit the size of meetings, consider whether it is necessary to meet in person, and whenever possible; make use of conference calls, Google Hangouts, video conferencing, and any other available methods of virtual meetings. As of today, face-to-face meetings are not banned outright, but we encourage all employees to exercise caution and discretion in the coming days in this regard.

Work Location

For now, given London’s declared status as low risk, other than the implementation of these extra measures we remain in a “business as usual” status. Until further notice, employees should continue reporting to work as usual.

When travelling personally,

· Level 3 Areas:
· Avoid travel to any of the “Level 3” areas as per travel health notices – you are encouraged to monitor advisories for the addition of new countries/regions
· If you, your spouse or a family member living with you has returned from a level 3 region, call MLHU within 24 hours at (519) 663-5317 and self-isolate for 14 days upon return from any Level 3 health notice area
· Other Destinations
· Advise your supervisor of the location where you are travelling
· Take precautions to remain healthy while travelling
· Upon return from any location outside of Canada via, airplane, bus or train contact Dave Stinson at 519-673-1664 before returning to work
· Self-monitor for symptoms of the coronavirus (COVID-19) for 14 days after returning from travel from any location outside of Canada (Symptoms to monitor for include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath).

If you believe you, your spouse or a family member are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, even with no prior travel history, self-isolate and notify the Middlesex London Health Unit (MLHU) for further assessment (519-663-5317). MLHU also advises travellers with symptoms to notify their healthcare provider prior to visiting any healthcare facility. For more information, visit

If you are ill, you are encouraged to assess the nature of the illness and consider whether you should stay home until you are no longer contagious.

Closure of Ontario Schools from March 14 to April 5, 2020

We recognize that employees who are parents of school-aged children may require access to unpaid leave in order to ensure adequate childcare during this closure period. Please speak to Dave Stinson if you require additional assistance in arranging time off work during this time period. ROE’s will be completed for anyone who requests one and has missed more than 5 days. We cannot speak to coverage with Employment Insurance, you are best to contact them directly.

Security is an essential service for the majority of our clients and we need the help of all security employees to get shifts covered and get through this together.

Don't forget, your best friend right now is soap and water, distance and time and we will be happy to see you on the other side of this.
